Your generosity enables us to build better facilities, retain valuable employees and enrich the lives of our students through activities beyond those paid for by tuition.

In addition to our year-end annual appeal, springtime gala and golf events, we encourage matching gifts, grants, donations-in-kind, and bequests from trusts and estates.

Special events

Our special events – golf tournaments, a Springtime gala, etc. – connect businesses and community organizations with each other and with Cardinal Cushing Centers with the goal of advancing our mission driven work.

Planned giving

The Cardinal Cushing Centers has developed a comprehensive Planned Giving Program for long term support to enable a greater income flow and increase our endowment so that there will always be resources to carry out our mission of supporting people with intellectual disabilities and their families.

A gift may be unrestricted so that Cardinal Cushing Centers may use it where it is needed most or one can choose to earmark funds for a particular need. Both gifts will help us build our endowment.

The purpose of our endowment is to provide a stable funding source that will allow us to address a growing list of capital concerns as well as value-added initiatives of the Cushing Centers not currently reimbursed through state sources. Cardinal Cushing Centers will use only the income generated from the endowment for these non-reimbursed expenses. The legacy of those who have generously given to our endowment will live on in a safety net of funds that will ensure that Cardinal Cushing Centers is able to safely open our buildings and doors and provide the best in people and technology for many years to come. At present designated gifts may be made to:

• Offset facility maintenance costs
• Bridge the gap for individual tuition
• Invest in new technology
• Retain the best in teachers, counselors and administrators

We will offer a full range of charitable gift options. Our program also provides support to trustees, financial officers, other development staff and gift planning professionals. We seek to secure gifts and commitments from our donors that will help them utilize the benefits of tax, income and other financial and estate planning advantages while simultaneously strengthening the financial security of Cardinal Cushing Centers for the future.

Examples of planned gifts include:

• Making a bequest in your will, either by percentage or specific amount.
• Gifting of your home but retaining the right to live in it for the rest of you and
your spouse’s life.
• Naming Cardinal Cushing Centers as the beneficiary in your life insurance policy,
retirement plan or IRA.
• By gifting to a charitable trust and naming Cardinal Cushing Centers as the, or
one, of the beneficiary(s).
• Making a gift now of highly appreciated stock or some other piece of personal
property that you may no longer want or need, such as artwork, collections,
antiques, vacation home, boats, etc.
